TikTok users can now shop directly from the app. TikTok and Shopify first disclosed their partnership last year to US merchants with advertisings on the app.

The new TikTok Shopping feature, allows Shopify merchants with a TikTok For Business account to add a 'shopping tab' to their profiles and showcase product catalogs to the app in order to link their online store. "Sellers can also link directly to their products in their videos by tagging them, allowing TikTok users to shop directly from videos", stated the company.

Many believes that this partnership is a way to develop its social commerce and e-commerce strategy. Kylie Cosmetics, a beauty brand owned by Kylie Jenner, is one of the first adopters of this new feature.

In India the value of e-commerce market is expected to see a rapid growth and reach $20 billion by 2026, and $40 billion by 2030, up from $4 billion in 2019, a report by Kearney stated. 

The inflating digital footprint, along with the growing needs of consumers and their changing attitudes towards online shopping plays a huge role, as per the report titled, 'Value e-commerce: the next big leap in India's retail market'.

Not just that, the value of lifestyle retail market is also expected to grow from $90 billion in 2019, to $156 billion by 2026, and touch $215 billion by 2030. This includes categories like apparel, footwear, fashion accessories, cosmetics, small appliances, home and living.

E-commerce platform Shein is making a hushed comeback in India, after being barred for over a year.

Banner ads on Amazon.in mentioned Shein as one of its “Prime Day launches” for its July 26-27 sale. Since then, social media has been abubble with celebratory posts. 

Popular for its latest styles and accessible price points, Shein was temporarily barred from selling goods in India for evading tax rules. Later the site was banned by the Government as part of India’s crackdown on Chinese apps in 2020.

E-commerce tycoon Amazon announced to host 'Small Business Days 2021' from July 2-4, 2021, as part of efforts to allow sellers to bounce back from the economic disruption caused by COVID-19 and support the local economy.

The event will see participation from small brand owners, over 1,000 startups and brands from Launchpad, 6.8 lakh women entrepreneurs from Amazon Saheli, more than 12 lakh artisans and weavers from Amazon Karigar and over 50,000 neighbourhood stores from the Local Shops on Amazon programme.
