Reportedly Samsung Electronics has collaborated with the Bank of Korea (BOK) in order to take part in a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) pilot program. Through these pilot tests, the company will try to ascertain if it is possible for mobile payments to be completed using the digital currency while there’s no internet available.

Samsung Electronics needs to look over the central financial institution digital forex and functionality of blockchain-based programs on its Galaxy smartphones. Moreover, they are venturing to find out whether or not will probably be potential to “ship CBDC remittances to different cellphones or to different linked financial institution accounts.”

Samsung will be backed by affiliate Escor, and will possibly be joined by the Kakao consortium in this project.
