WhatsApp is reportedly working on the message reactions. Message reactions or also known as Emoji Reactions will let users react to a specific text in a conversation with an emoji. Users will be able to react using any emojis as per their will. 

WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo said that the reactions will show up below the chat bubble in a small dialog box and they won't be anonymous. Everyone in the conversation will be able to see who reacted to a specific message. This feature is currently under development so even the Beta users will not be able to spot it yet.

The messaging app is also allegedly working on the new chat bubble redesign for iOS users, a UI change that has already been introduced for Android beta users. The new redesign brings a more rounded chat bubble with a new green colour. WhatsApp is also trying to expand the new archive interface for multi-device function users.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has launched a virtual assistant, named Urja with AI/NLP (Artificial Intelligence/Natural Language Processing) capabilities.

"After a successful 6 months pilot on WhatsApp for enabling LPG bookings; Urja today speaks in 13 languages (English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Bengali, Punjabi, Urdu and Assamese). Over 45% of the conversations with Urja are in the non-English languages ensuring inclusiveness for all types of customers of BPCL," the company claimed.

Urja is currently available on the company's website to deliver a flawless self-service experience and solve any queries or issues for both B2B and B2C. The aim is to make BPCL’s user interface comprehensive and integrate digitally.

WhatsApp has announced that it will be rolling out the feature to move entire WhatsApp chat history between iOS and Android phones. 

Previously, one of the biggest hurdles for customers was to switch between Android and iOS while there’s an inability to transfer WhatsApp chats between the two different ecosystems. The Facebook-owned company stated that now users will be able to move their conversations along with voice notes and other media files if they decide to switch mobile operating systems.

The feature will be available to both Android and iOS systems users. People will be able to switch from both Android to iOS and vice versa.

Facebook has allegedly confirmed that it is recruiting a team of AI (Artificial Intelligence) researchers in order to analyze encrypted data without cracking it. The aim is to obtain luscious information for targeted advertising.

The social networking giant is trying to fetch information from encrypted data while maintaining the privacy to keep unauthorized eyes from viewing the data. Successful completion of the testing will allow the company to extract enough data for targeted advertising without actually retracing its public commitment to safeguard its users’ privacy.

Although a Facebook spokesperson mentioned to The Information that it is "too early for us to consider homomorphic encryption for WhatsApp at this time”. The social media tycoon has already been confronted about its questionable privacy policies a good number of times.

WhatsApp has upgraded its group call functionality as well as updated the call interface. 

Earlier if someone have missed a WhatsApp group call, there was no option available for them to join the ongoing call without seeking help from someone in the group. With the upgraded group call feature, users will be able to view and join an ongoing group call that they might have missed from the ‘Calls’ tab.

One can also find out who have already joined the call and who are yet to join before entering the call. The new feature has been rolled out for both the voice and video calls.

WhatsApp has started working on a new feature that will allow users to share videos in high resolution. The feature is currently under development and will soon be available as 'Video Upload Quality'.

Users will be able to choose the video upload quality by picking one of 3 options such as- “Auto (recommended)”, “Best Quality” and “Data Saver”.

This new feature has been recently rolled out as part of WhatsApp Android Beta version

WhatsApp is testing a new privacy feature which will allow users to send media that disappears after the receiver has seen it. The ‘view once' feature has been introduced to some beta testers on Android with version

The feature works for videos, photos and GIFs. When a photo or video is marked as ‘view once' while sending, it will automatically disappear from the receiver's phone after they have seen it.

Facebook has decided to monetise WhatsApp. Over the years, it has added a bunch of features on WhatsApp Business. Now, it is taking a step towards bringing “Shops” to WhatsApp in order to generate revenues.

Facebook launched ‘Shops’ last year to make it easier for businesses to set up a single online store for users on its platform along with Instagram. Facebook is now bringing a virtual storefront to WhatsApp.

Facebook also mentioned, as soon as WhatsApp Business owners design their virtual storefront or Shops on WhatsApp and showcase the same on Facebook, it will help them reach more than 1 billion people globally each month.
